Keen photographer?

Yes?

Then always, always carry a camera with you.  Of course, this is easy today as the cameras included with most mobile phones are excellent.  In fact, the industry “standard” DXO Mark recently scored the camera on the latest Google Pixel phone at 98%.  I only have a now ancient iPhone 6 with a very simple 8-megapixel camera, but it’s the camera I have with me all the time.

At the turn of the year I was walking with Dexter when a pile of leaves on the ground caught my attention.  So, camera at the ready and with my dog pulling away at the end of his lead I managed a quick snapshot intended only for phone wallpaper.  But I was so impressed with the finished image that I posted it on my Flickr page and deemed it worthy of publication in this blog.

I probably wouldn’t even have got this image if I’d had my full camera kit with me that morning.  I’d have been looking for something far grander.
