getting better

Firstly, apologies for the lack of any blog activity recently.  This post should explain why.

On 8 July I was given a very high dose of chemotherapy and then on 10 July I had the stem cells harvested from me back in May put back in.

The chemotherapy made me very, very ill.

So ill I didn't think it was possible to be that unwell and yet still be alive.

Extreme fatigue, nausea and vomiting amongst other things meant that the last thing on my mind was updating my blog - sorry.

The transplant had one strange side effect.  All I could taste in my mouth was sweetcorn and even my room smelled of the stuff.  Quite common apparently but still bizarre.

But thanks to the unstinting and excellent care I have received once again, there is now light at the end of the tunnel as my health starts to pick up.

My only hope now is that the transplant has put my cancer into remission and I can start to live as normal a life as possible.  If that is the case, then what I've just been through will be worth it.

As promised, the chemotherapy is resulting in my hair falling out at an alarming rate.  I've been told I will lose all my hair from all over me head and body.  Oh well, a small price to pay if all goes to plan.

I'm not sure when I get any remission news but rest assured I'll share it with you on here.
