the dog and duck

I know I’ve often extolled the virtues of living where I do.  I can be beside the seaside within 10 minutes or in the mountains of the Brecon Beacons within 20 to 30 or so.

It’s surprising then that my dog Dexter has visited neither.  Problem is he’s extremely excitable and there is no way he could be left off his lead.  We’d never see him again!  Couple that with my lack of mobility and it’s easy to see why we haven’t risked it.

But yesterday we decided that it was time he saw the mountains for the first time and within 30 minutes of leaving home we were in the Beacons and enjoying a cuppa and a Welshcake at a café there.  Outside the café is a small lake populated by ducks.

Dexter goes quackers

Dexter had never seen a duck before.  How he didn’t pull Lisa into the lake in his pursuit of new friendships (or lunch) I have no idea.  It’s fair to say he had an absolute ball, borne out by the fact that on our return home he literally collapsed into his bed and fell fast asleep for a couple of hours.  Dreaming - no doubt - of ducks!
