routine

I am very much a creature of habit.

Every Thursday I make the half hour drive into the foothills of the Brecon Beacons to Craig y Nos country park.  It is a lovely, peaceful place in the grounds of Craig y Nos Castle – the former home of the famous opera singer, the late Adelina Patti.  The castle is reputedly one of the most haunted places in Britain.  Luckily, I don’t believe in ghosts.

In any event, my faithful dog Dexter and I make our weekly pilgrimage to see and feed (and in Dexter’s case try to chase) the ducks in the lake there.

Then there’s the café.  I’m now such a regular there that I no longer need to place an order.  My usual cup of tea and Welsh cake are ready on the counter by the time Dexter and I haul ourselves up the steps and into the very welcoming warmth.

The place is also rather photogenic.  I’ve included some of the photos I’ve taken there below.  I hope they convey the spirit (pardon the pun) of the place and the reason we keep returning there.

Who knows, maybe next time I’ll have a hot chocolate.  Though there’s more chance of seeing the ghost of the long dead Adelina!
