gardening

I make no excuses for being a “winter” person.  I prefer the darker, shorter days and colder weather.  These days anyway.

But with the advent of spring I can at least look forward to the garden coming into bloom, the grass getting greener and thousands of insects, bees and spiders invading.  In fact, last autumn I installed a bug hotel in the garden to attract them all in.

And of course, the wonderful “Gardener’s World” is back on the TV.

Now although I enjoy seeing my garden in all its glory, I’m unfortunately no longer able to do much in the way of any gardening.  In fact, it’s taken me 6 months or so to lay around 30 patio slabs such is my back pain and consequent lack of strength these days.  And any planting is confined to pots, though this means we can have a far wider choice of plants which is nice.

The thing I enjoy most about the garden though is taking photographs of it.  Not now when there’s not much to see but in the middle of the summer there’s nothing I like more than a back-garden safari capturing the flowers and insects.

So, although I prefer to be able to wrap up warm against the cold, I’m sort of looking forward to July and August when we might, just might, catch a sunny day.
