another year over

So, that’s Christmas over for another year.  Or 5 minutes to you and me.

Thoughts now turn, of course, to 2018 and what that’ll bring.  I don’t make resolutions as such, but I do use this time of year to try and think of things to try out or keep me occupied as I grow increasingly older and more miserable.

I wrote a while back about my desire to get back to the waterfalls, and that is still very much in my mind.  As is getting back to landscape photography in general, and in particular thinking of interesting images that can be made without the need to hike for miles.  Perhaps, I’ll write a book?  “Landscape Photography by Car”?

I’m looking forward to an exciting new venture with a friend.  We’re talking about making short, educational type films to help with his work encouraging children to read and write more.  So, this time next year I might be a partner in a production company.  Well, you’ve got to think big, haven’t you?

I also want to continue to develop and grow the “During the Meanwhilst” platform, making more videos and taking more pictures exclusively for this blog and its offshoots; and working to a more (rigid is the wrong word, but you know what I mean) structured (that’s better) timetable.

And finally, I’m looking at starting a probably monthly, more editorial style blog looking into the world of professional cycling; hoping to find good things amongst the bad.

In short, I want to work.  Hard.

All the above, of course, is dependent on my health.  It’s not been too good lately.  I’ve suffered virus after virus, lost around 8 kilos in weight, experienced three (yes, there was a third!) falls (and then there was a fourth) and generally felt awful.  I don’t see my doctor until early February, but I’m certain there’s nothing seriously wrong with me quite yet.  I’m not ready for any sort of relapse.

Anyway, whether you make resolutions, or like me think of new things to do in the coming months, or even if not – have a very Happy New Year.

Happy New Year .... from Wales
