Christmas Eve Eve
For me, today is the best day of
the year.
Why?
Simple. Because tomorrow is the most exciting day of
the year. So, today, I still have the
antici………….……pation of what tomorrow might bring of course.
I have nothing but fond memories
and thoughts of Christmas Eve.
One of my first childhood memories
(and it is strangely a lovely one) is of being very ill on a Christmas Eve, and
lying on the sofa with my lovely sister smoothing my hair to make me feel all
better. I’ll gloss over the Christmas
Eve she had to spend with me in hospital when the whole family was sent into
panic because they thought I’d swallowed a whole packet of painkillers (I hadn’t)
and had to have my stomach pumped. Or
the Christmas Eve she took me to see “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” at the local
cinema in Swansea.
Then as I was growing up and
starting work, there were the office Christmas Eve parties which, when I was
younger were always a riot. As I got
older though, I preferred to get off home early to be with my family.
Then of course there was the
Christmas just after my back surgery.
Christmas in hospital isn’t supposed to be fun. But I still managed to enjoy Christmas Eve
even then thanks to the tireless work of all the staff there who made sure
everyone enjoyed themselves. Whether
they wanted to or not.
So, to today. And it’s Christmas Eve tomorrow. I wonder what it’ll bring?
These days I count my blessings
each Christmas and wonder how I’ve managed to survive another year. Whatever, I hope everyone reading this has a
wonderful Christmas.
As I have always done, I pause to
think of those for who Christmas isn’t such an easy time. And I give a huge thanks to those who work
over Christmas caring for people in whatever capacity.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
