I told you so

The BBC recently aired a series whereby several photographers came under the tutelage of Rankin - a top UK photographer.

Just the sort of TV programme for me then.

In the very first episode, and for their very first assignment he sent the group to Brighton with the objective to create an image to satisfy the hashtag "beach".

#BOOM

I watched as they all hurried around for the hour they were given, trying to find a unique and compelling image.  What would I have done I asked myself.  Well, I decided that given the same brief, light and conditions the photographers had, I would take off my shoes, roll up my trousers, wade into the sea for a few metres and take an image looking back up the beach.

Job done.

Anyway, back at the studio and Rankin went through the (his words) "disappointing images".  One of the group challenged him and asked him what he would have done.

His reply?

He said he would have taken off his shoes, rolled up his trousers, waded into the sea for a few metres and taken an image looking back up the beach!

It's easy this photography lark.  Innit?
