G.L.O.A.T.

The greatest lens of all time!

When I started out in digital photography, one of the first lenses I ever bought was a 105mm macro one by Nikon.  I figured it'd kill three birds with one stone, giving me a macro lens (obvs) along with options for a portrait and short telephoto one too.

I quickly realised that it was an absolutely stunning performer, being sharp, contrasty and producing wonderful bokeh (that out of focus background) when shooting a lens with a wide aperture (it has a maximum of f2.8).

I used it extensively for all sorts of photography but when I switched to Fujifilm I sold it rather foolishly as I didn't know about adapting lenses onto my new bodies.

Fast-forward to today and now I'm on my third!

I bought the second one when the macro lens my sister gave me (a lovely Sigma one) decided it didn't want to focus anymore, and the third one I bought when an accidental drop dislodged all the aperture blades from the lens!

It's the lens I used to tackle my assault on macro photography last summer, and now I've acquired some old Nikon camera bodies I no longer have to worry about adapting it onto my Fujifilms.

Anyway, I shan't bore you with any of the macro shots from last summer, but here are two shots from last week.

Naturally my love for this lens also extended to the production of a video to discuss its merits. You didn't think otherwise, did you?

I've also filmed a short vlog from a recent stroll down to the woods to fill the bird feeders.  If you're interested, it's only a click away...

Forgive me but I also forgot to post a link to Monday's video.  I know, call the police!!!
