making allowances

As you probably know, I absolutely love nature.  And last summer my daughter and I placed some bird feeders in our local patch of woodland, and then enjoyed taking pictures of them down there.  

It was a lovely thing, spending quality time together and she got some wonderful images; much better than anything my old eyes could muster.


But just lately I've been feeling more and more bone pain, and these past few weeks it has become barely, well, bearable.  Trips to the woods are scarce and as interesting as garden macro is, I need a bit more to keep the old grey matter ticking along.

So, I collected up some old pieces of driftwood we brought back from the beach last year and constructed (well that's a bit generous) a natural looking bird feeder.

 

And it's been a great success with a seemingly non-stop parade of birds flocking to it.  Not much in the way of variety, but lovely nonetheless.
