harvest time

Well all my recent blood tests point to one thing: I'm ready to have my stem cells harvested for transplant.  It's the beginning of the end for my illness.  A pin prick of light at the end of a very long tunnel.

Being someone who suffers with OCD, then clearly some form of schedule needs to be recorded to make sure I am where I need to be when I need to be there; so:

- Tuesday / Wednesday: 24 hour urine sample needed
- Wednesday: deliver said sample to hospital
- Friday: into hospital again for some blood tests and paper work
- Saturday / Sunday / Monday: in patient on Ward 12 for large dose of chemo
- Monday to the following Sunday: 7 days of injections at home to stimulate stem cell growth
- Monday: back into hospital for some final tests and my sister arrives here to accompany me to Cardiff
- Tuesday (and possibly Wednesday and Thursday): off to hospital in Cardiff for the actual harvesting.

The transplant itself will take place some 6 to 8 weeks later and will see me in hospital (mainly in isolation) for 2 to 3 weeks.

So there it all is.  The next stage of my treatment and recovery.

All seems fairly straightforward when broken down into a list.

See, OCD has its advantages!

  2. OCD gets a bad rap. It has it's place, as you so well illustrated. Glad all is on track. As Nigel says, kick the big C's arse!!!
