oh bugger

Since I finished work in June I have been engrossed in making our small house as maintenance free and future proof as possible.

We've transformed the back garden from a boggy lawn into a useable gravelled area; had new fascia, soffits and guttering installed; replaced the kitchen white goods and installed new blinds throughout the rear of the house.

Next step is to transform the spare bedroom so it's fit for guests, and landscape our front garden and driveway.  Then our home will be complete apart from an as yet undecided addition of a garden office room.

Part of this drive has been fuelled by my desire to be able to enjoy my home without the worries of maintaining it and also to make sure that if anything does happen then my family will have an easier life whether they decide to stay here or sell up and leave.

So far so good then.  My master plan is working.

As part of this process I decided to buy myself my dream car that would last me years and years.  Something I have always craved.

So I ordered a brand new VW Golf GTi.  Just weeks before the scandal surrounding their car's exhaust emissions  erupted!!

Oh bugger indeed.

But to date only their diesel engined vehicles have been affected, and I can only hope the brouhaha doesn't extend to their petrol powered cars.

  2. Good to see you are keeping busy Nick. VW's reputation may be temporarily scarred but they still produce excellent cars and the Golf GTi is probably the most iconic. How is your recovery progressing?
