a splendid weekend

I don't get the chance to get properly out and about at the moment, so this weekend's visit of my sister and brother in law with a promise to whisk me away from the confines of my house was most welcome.

It would give me a chance to enjoy a change of scenery, breath some fresh countryside air and at last pick up my camera to enjoy my favourite pastime.

Saturday saw a trip into the Brecon Beacons to take in the mountains and enjoy an hour or so at our favourite spot just listening to the mountain stream rush down the valley.  Very therapeutic.

the view from the banks of the Swansea Valley looking towards Pen-y-Fan (the highest point in South Wales)

After stopping to enjoy the red kites flying overhead, we went on to Brecon to indulge in Corinne's favourite pastimes - a bookshop and eating.  All within the same venue!

On Sunday, following a visit to Joe's Ice Cream Parlour we headed towards the Mumbles, only to find our route blocked by road closures due to the Swansea Bay 10K race.  So we headed to the cafe at Southgate instead.

But it was cold and we were being attacked by wasps which soon found us back in the car and heading for Caswell Bay before returning home.

However the main roads around Mumbles were still shut so we had our own marathon task getting home.

I'm exhausted (and full up!!) now, but in the end it was all worth it for the fresh air, taking photographs and spending some time with Corinne and John.  Thank you both for putting up with me over the weekend!
