we, yes we, are the champions

I can still remember the day I got my first ever concert tickets.  They were to see Queen in Birmingham in 1979.

Then there was the excitement of actually holding the tickets.  The anticipation of the show.  Getting to the venue and joining the snaking queue to get in.  Battling and running to get as near to the stage as possible.  Seeing the huge stage, lighting rig and sound system.  The feeling when the house lights dimmed and the band erupted onto the stage.  The smell of the dry ice.  Straining to get closer to the stage to see my heroes.  Hoping they would play my favourite songs.  Clamouring for an encore.  Recovering from the temporary deafness.  Wearing my tour t-shirt with pride.

I can still remember it all as if it were yesterday.

I can imagine everyone present at the Manchester Arena last night shared those very same feelings.  Apart that is for one “person” intent instead on feeding on all the good feelings and happiness to spread death, destruction and hatred.  Well, whoever was behind that atrocity, you will never win.  You will never stop the feelings I first experienced in 1979 and shared by millions of people since.

Love and togetherness will always overcome evil and hatred.
