10 years after

Apologies for the Saturday morning intrusion, but today marks an important landmark - the first of two this month.

Oh, and further apologies if you were expecting to read about Alvin Lee and his band!

But it was exactly ten years ago to the day, 12 October 2014, that I made the very first post on this blog!

I started it as it was apparent I was going to have a lot of spare time on my hands over the coming weeks as I'd just come home from a short hospital stay with what was then suspected multiple myeloma.  It was obvious that I would not be back in work any time soon as my spine was fractured in my L3 vertebra causing what can only be described as excruciating pain.

Anyway, this blog was born!

In the early days, and in the months that soon followed, it didn't look like I'd be "blogging" for very long as ironically the treatment for the cancer itself very nearly cost me my life.  That I'm still here and annoying you all to this day is testimony to the skill and care of the staff at Singleton Hospital in Swansea.

And here I indeed still very much am, 956 posts and countless images and videos later.

Will I still be blogging in another ten years?  Well, after nearly 8 years in "partial" remission my cancer relapsed around eighteen months ago and is currently stable.  I'm not naive though and know I'm only one blood test away from things getting worse, but for now I'll continue to annoy for the foreseeable future!
