I think I may have mentioned that my favourite place to take photographs is the Mumbles: a seaside location about 20-30 minutes from where I live.

I like taking pictures of the lighthouse there but there are many more subjects that make interesting photographs.

The beach is blessed with numerous rock pools and pebbles all of which can make for fascinating pictures.

One picture I took early one morning after another failed attempt to capture the perfect image of the lighthouse demonstrates this.  It's of a rockpool shot with a 60 second exposure and a 10 stop filter as the tide lapped gently against it.

The illusion given off means the picture could have been taken anywhere: at the seaside, atop a mountain range or at a lake somewhere.

It also demonstrates how you don't need an ultra wide angle lens to shoot landscapes.  This was shot at a focal length of 70mm.  Any wider and the illusion would have been lost as other elements giving away the location of the picture would have been brought into view.

I love the ambiguity of this photograph.  I hope you enjoy it too, either for what it is or for what you think it might be.
