books

I was undecided whether to title this entry books or reading.

Then I thought if I called it reading that people would confuse it with the town in Berkshire and not the activity.  So books it was.

This entry is inspired by my sister's latest blog (see below).  When I was typing my comment on it I felt it deserved a blog entry of its own.

Reading has been a part of my life from as far back as I can remember.  I could read from an early age (a product of being read to by my mother or grand mother every single day) and used to read everything I could.  Books, magazines, newspapers, anything I could get my hands on.

In our parlour room we had alcoves either side of the fireplace and one was packed with books.

By the time I went to secondary school I had read all the classics and the complete works of Dickens. All by the age of 11.

But now I find I can't concentrate enough to get through a book.  I prefer biographies and travel writing but although I have all the time in the world I can't get passed looking at pictures in camera and photography magazines.

Perhaps as I recover from my illness and have more quality time on my hands I can go back to enjoying reading.

Otherwise I'll have to go to Reading and see if enjoying that is any easier.

  1. How about books on tape? I used to listen all the time in the car while driving around to/for work. I bet you can download them onto your iPad these days. Just a suggestion...... ;)
