lone tree
I’ve driven or cycled, or even
walked, this road hundreds of times. And
each time I’ve passed this tree. And
each time I’ve thought to myself that I must take a photograph of it.
Well, a few weeks ago I did just
that.
But why this time?
Well, it was the way the light
was hitting the tree from the side, illuminating its silvery grey bark and
casting the rest of the tree into light shadow.
Then the clouds seemed to be just right – almost framing the tree. I hadn’t driven there deliberately to take
this picture. I’d gone to fly my drone,
just that this time I just had to stop and at last get the image of the tree I’d
always wanted.
I could have zoomed in tighter, gone black and white
and upped the “clarity” of the image to highlight the tree’s struggles against the
wind over what must be years. But I
liked the colour image too much to do that.
And I like the tree too much too.

I share your affinity for trees.....they have these really cool dead trees here that they leave standing for the Ospreys to nest in. Cool shot! I think a B&W would look cool too. :)
