la la land (rover)

I love my little Mazda MX5.  And so does my partner in photographic “crime”, Dexter.  It’s the sheer joy of open-air motoring even on icy cold but sunny Winter mornings.  As long as the heater is going full blast it’s really a joy.

I’ve often said that I’d never sell it, so strong is my love of owning it.

from this...

But….

I’ve always fancied an old Land Rover Defender.  A short wheelbase one with chunky tyres and a snorkel.  Three seats up front and a utilitarian load bay in the rear.  Probably in green.  Preferably a V8, but probably a diesel to be honest.

to this????

It would certainly be a lot easier for me to get in and out of than the Mazda although not as comfortable or sporty to drive once I have climbed up and in.  Though it would probably have more road presence and I’d certainly be less worried about its cosmetic appearance than I am about my rag-top MX5.

So, come the Spring when prices for convertibles start to look up, I might well be tempted to make the switch to a four-wheel-drive “Landy” to rush about in.

  1. Must be nice to be 'rich'! LOL (I once looked into a Land Rover and almost passed out from sticker shock!)
