sad idiot
I watched a YouTube video the other day where a well-respected photographer opined that anyone who uses two screens with their computer is a sad idiot.
Welcome to my new set-up.
I have a good reason for the two screens though. Two in fact actually.
Firstly, I’ve recently started shooting video in 4K resolution, so I can get all those lovely details in my work. However, my now 6-year-old Apple iMac cannot handle 4K, so I need to edit it on my MacBook Pro which can. But this means I only have a small screen to look at.
So, I went out and bought a 4K monitor to use with my laptop.
And second, I figured that when my iMac eventually dies, instead of buying a new desktop I can just use my MacBook as my main machine with its new, shiny screen. After all, all my media is now stored on tiny, external hyper-fast solid-state drives anyway. So, all my iMac is really is a glorified processor. And when I want to, I can just disconnect my laptop (it’s only three cables) and carry it away with me - with my media drives as well if I like - wherever I need to go.
But I also figured that while it lives, I’d be able to use it to increase the screen real estate of my iMac (albeit not in 4K) which I find handy when editing photos. I can now edit on one screen and watch videos telling me I’m a sad old idiot on the other.
Splendid!
You are clearly justifying your purchase. Not that that's a bad thing......lol. Just sayin'! ;)
