France (tour de)

I may have mentioned that in the past I used to like racing on my bicycle. Not very successfully I might add but I had my odd moment in the sun.

Anyway, while watching this year’s Tour de France I came up with the madcap idea of riding up a few of the mountain passes in the race next year….for charity, of course.

So, I devised a training schedule to ease my way back into riding.  Very easy to start with but ramping up over the winter and spring before tackling the Alps and Pyrenees early next summer.

Now, I can handle the pain in my legs.  That I know.  But my back? I’m not so sure.  And that might just scupper the whole plan.

There is one pain I have overcome though.  Any serious cyclist will tell you there is one ritual that must be endured. The waxing of one’s legs!

Anyway, it’s done which means that any further epilation will be less painful and rubbing oil into my legs nightly will be much easier now that my legs are smooth.

If only I could smooth out the climb to Mont Ventoux so easily...

my legs: devoid of hair, and muscle!

  1. Ummmm.....I know nothing about racing.....why does one need to shave one's legs? :-/ (PS Good luck with the training.)
