my dog

In January 2014 we made a momentous family decision: we got a dog.

And I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best decision we ever made. Dexter, our border terrier, has completed our family.  Our house is now a home.

he really is very handsome...

Shortly after getting him I started to get sick, so I’ve spent most of his lifetime with him.  And therefore, he really has been my dog.  He’s been there to cheer me up when I’m down, lie close to me when I need reassurance and leave me alone (but for too long) when I need isolation.

The thing is though, I don’t need to tell or ask him what to do and when. He seemingly just knows exactly what I need at any given time.  It’s quite uncanny.

...surprisingly heavy...

He is my constant companion on my photographic outings.  As soon as I start to pack my kit bag, he knows to get himself ready to jump in the car for a trip out somewhere.  I really can’t, and couldn’t anyway, go anywhere without him - even though has a tendency to sneeze all over the interior of our car!

He also uncannily knows that when we go over a cattle grid in the road there will be sheep visible soon.  He loves looking at the sheep and I've no doubt he'd love to play with them!  He gets the same whenever there are sheep on the TV too.

...and incredibly inquisitive!

Anyway, I honestly think that without Dexter I wouldn’t be here to write this blog or take my pictures now.

They say everyone has a guardian angel; sent to look over them.  Well mine comes in a small package of brown fur with a wagging tail and permanently wet nose, and I wouldn’t know what to do without him.
