the result of last week's exploring...

Carreg Cennen Castle is a proper old Welsh castle dating from the 13th century.  It has a visitor centre and (of course) a shop, but this photograph is from a field a mile or so away from the castle affording a unique view.

Being so far away meant using my zoom lens.  I really don't use it enough and to be honest I'd rather have a 200mm prime lens but the cost is too prohibitive.

Anyway, it was good enough to get this image.  I particularly like the layers provided by the mountains, the mistiness in the valley and the sheer "Welshness" of the image as a whole.    The only missing element is a dragon!  The telephoto lens compresses the scene beautifully.

  1. WOW! Stunning photo but being a crass American I'm more intrigued by the castle! ;)
