I can't quite believe I'm actually typing this

don't laugh, I have feelings you know...

But today is a day I genuinely, genuinely thought I would never get to see.

It's my 60th Birthday!!

Ten years ago, I'd just lost my mother and was starting to get ill all the time with repeated infections, and unknown to me at the time this was the start of my blood cancer.  So, with all that and my mother's funeral days before my birthday I really didn't feel like celebrating. 

And I've not really celebrated many birthdays in between then and now either.  I really have taken each year as it's happened as a surprise bonus.  And when my cancer relapsed around a year ago, my haematologist told me that in about a year I'd be terminally ill.

Well, here I am, still very much NOT terminally ill and enjoying each day.

I won't actually celebrate my birthday this year as such.  I'm not big on birthday parties and it'll just be a quiet night in with the family and an Indian takeaway from our favourite restaurant.
