my lucky charm

There's a small patch of woodland at the bottom of our road which my daughter and I frequently visit.  We've hung bird feeders there and regularly take photographs of the birds we see.

It's all fairly standard stuff really; with robins, nuthatches, sparrows and tits.  But from time to time we see the odd slightly rarer visitor such as a woodpecker, tree creeper or, if we're really lucky, a jay.

My wife very rarely accompanies me down there, but in the two occasions she has visited this year she's seen a woodpecker and, just a couple of weeks ago, the beautiful jay.  Talk about being lucky!

Anyway, here's an image from that recent visit.
