there's beauty in the beast

Flies, wasps, bees, gnats, midges.  Call them what you will they're mostly regarded as pests. But look at any of them close up and they're actually beautiful little marvels of natural, genetic engineering; evolved to a point that they are perfectly adapted to do what they need to do - annoy us!!

No, really, I think they are beautiful in their own way, and here are two images - one of a sawfly and the other a bottle-green housefly - to hopefully convince you of their status too.
