it just works. erm…
This is Apple’s tagline isn’t it. Well, the “it just works” bit anyway. And by and large this is true; until it isn’t!
Apple’s latest iOS update (18.2) heralded the introduction of Apple Intelligence, the company’s take on AI and I dare say it includes a great deal of handy things to make life easier.
The Mail App saw quite a sizeable change, with Apple Intelligence bringing the ability to summarise messages and help with composing them. To be honest this isn’t something I’ll use - well not initially - as I’m a bit long in the tooth and reluctant to try new things.
to be fair it did create this really useful picture of a bow-tie hard-hat wearing dog on a building site…
Anyway, along with its “intelligence” it also delivered a bug that is plaguing many users. And this bug is quite a devastating one in that it renders the app pretty well useless as new email messages are not getting through. I have to access them via the mail provider’s website as the Apple App just isn’t delivering (pardon the pun).
So, instead of “just working” it’s added a further layer into what should be the really quite simple task of retrieving emails
Hopefully this is something that can be quickly fixed, and not like the Bluetooth brain fart that rendered my old keyboard useless a few years back.
