well thanks a lot Canon
I've had my Canon Pro10S printer for a good few years now. It wasn't a cheap purchase and has served me well, producing some excellent prints at its maximum 19x13 inch size.
Until now that is.
At this time of year, Canon usually introduce updated drivers for their printers to take account of Apple's updated operating systems. And I just checked to see whether they'd brought new drivers out for MacOS 26 (Tahoe) only to find that my printer is...
NO LONGER SUPPORTED!!!
Well, gee, thanks Canon. Thanks a lot!
Of course, I can still use the printer, but not all its functions are now available to me. Things like accurate paper profiles and printing custom sizes will no longer be possible.
Now, I don't want to replace it with a more modern model as it's still working and that's hardly a sound ecological decision. So, what to do?
Well, I do have an older iMac (a 2017 model) incapable of running Tahoe so I could use that, but setting it up just to print an image once in a while seems a little impractical. I could search for some sort of workaround but again that's not my bag so to speak.
I don't want it reduced to "storage" mode (see above)!!
In the end then this might just accelerate my decision to cease printing at home altogether, sell or more likely just give away the printer, and to outsource any printing requirements in the future. With the cost of ink and the uncertainty of getting accurate results in the future that might just be the most sensible decision.
But why, Canon? Just why?
