the blue tits are back
One of the sights in my garden each year that makes me really happy is seeing the blue tits return. They nest in a large tree behind our house and fly in to take advantage of the food we put out for them. And when the young ones are born it is such a joy to watch as the adults first feed and then leave them to their own devices!
I spotted this one as it clung onto a honeysuckle over our patio just last week, and got this fleeting image before it flew back to its nest in that tree.

You might be wondering why we're still putting bird food out when RSPB advice is not to feed birds through the summer. As I see it, and correct me if I'm wrong here, but most of that advice relates to finches whose population is dwindling due to illness. We don't have any finches in our area and I've never seen one in our garden. So, I'd rather carry on providing snacks for those who do visit.
