they got me

I wrote a few weeks back about the new cameras the Nikon Corporation was launching soon and about how I was definitely not going to buy one.

Well I’m not.  Definitely. And here’s why.

I want a very small, take anywhere camera that’s better than my iPhone or a compact camera.  The new cameras Nikon is bringing out are actually not that small; certainly not small enough to fit unobtrusively in a jacket pocket say.  Also there’s the price.  I’ve invested in some some pretty expensive kit over the last couple of years and while not at the same price point of my existing camera they’re not exactly cheap either.

So yesterday saw me in the camera shop buying a very small, inexpensive but still lovely Nikon camera that is 100% take every where and use anywhere.  It’s called a Nikon 1 J5 and does exactly what I need (i.e. it lets me have full control over exposure settings).  It’s unobtrusive so I might even try my hand at street photography with it without the risk of upsetting someone and getting beaten up!

So, I said I wasn’t going to buy one of the new Nikon’s and I stuck to my word.
