if you don't like spiders...
…then look away right now!
Luckily, I love them. And at this time of the year the garden is full of them, mostly female and mostly full of spider-lings.
This female - living behind a mirror on our garage wall - caught my eye because of her markings. I thought the pattern on her back looked more like that of a snake than an arachnid, and while this is by no means a good photograph (her legs are too tangled for that) I think it’s worth sharing because of her beauty.
I used an extension tube between my camera and lens which enabled me to get really, really close to her, whilst at the same time making for a crazy shallow depth of field and almost impossible accurate focussing!

Anyway, I’m off into hospital for my heart operation tomorrow. I’m told it’ll take around 5 hours, but I should be home on Wednesday and hopefully fit enough to fill you all in on my progress on Thursday.
Good luck with your operation, Nick! Sending you good vibes!!!! :D
