what to do next????

2018 has been quite a busy year.

I kept to my schedule of twice-weekly blog posts (save for a short summer break) bringing you my regular ramblings and a hopefully inspiring image each week.  I also continued to post regular images to my Flickr page.

The Autumn saw me complete my “Landscape Photography from a Car” project.  But I still don’t know what to do with the images I showed you last week. Any suggestions are welcome.

I posted near enough weekly videos to my YouTube platform, some of which did quite well, and some of which didn’t!  But I don’t make videos for views.  I do it for myself; to keep myself busy and (in my mind anyway) relevant!

There are some things I failed to do though.  Such as entering photo competitions.  And I’m kind of glad I didn’t.  Placing myself at the mercy of judges and their subjectivity doesn’t appeal any more.  I know what I like, and I know I can take decent enough pictures.  That’ll do nicely for me.

So, what will 2019 bring?

Well, you might be relieved to hear I'm carrying on with regular blog posts on a Monday and Thursday.  That's the thing that gives my week some actual structure.  And my incredibly successful YouTube channel will continue - maybe with some viewers, who knows?!?!

That leaves Flickr.  I really don’t know what to do.  Do I carry on with it or perhaps find a different platform like 500px to display my images?  The idea of a website to co-ordinate all this rubbish still rests in my head. Perhaps 2019 will be the year that gets done.

Whatever.  All of this is subject to me staying healthy.  I’m now three and a half years post stem cell transplant.  So, I’m beating the odds still, and I think a lot of that is down to keeping myself "busy".

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful, healthy, inspiring and fruitful 2019!!

See you next year :-)

"hippy" New Year to you all!!!

foot note:

I got home from hospital late on Christmas Eve after a mad dash to get a pacemaker fitted (it didn't go smoothly or to plan) and some late confusion about my "release"!

Unfortunately though I am unable to drive for the next few weeks on doctor's orders, so there may not be any Monday photo posts past those I've already scheduled unless I can find some good enough and different enough in my archive.

Please accept my apologies, and I hope that normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

  1. Happy New Year to you too, Nick! (Is the pacemaker helping? Or is it too soon to tell? My 87 year old uncle has had a pacemaker for almost his entire adult life. He's the most active person I know! He said it made all the difference! Hope it's the same for you!)
