the office

I’ve always been an outdoors person.  Even a large part of my working life was spent away from an office and outside travelling around and visiting people.

But as I got a little older, I decided the risks of that job were just getting too great and I settled into an office role for the last dozen or so years of my career.

And now that I’ve finished work, I still come into my office every day. Just that I no longer commute to get there.  Unless you count the journey from my lounge to my office as a commute.  At least there’s no traffic!

I’m writing this as I recently updated my small office space further.  I bought a new iMac to replace the ageing one that was now taking longer and longer to do things, and added a second monitor to help with photo and video editing (and just to make me look more important really!).

pretty impressive, yeah?

I think it’s really important that I try to do some “work” every day. Be that writing, editing, filming videos for YouTube.  Just doing something, anything, productive is essential to me.  I’ve never been an idle person and the thought of just sitting on the couch in front of the TV doesn’t hold any appeal.

I know that with a laptop and an internet connection you can work anywhere. And I do sometimes write in a café somewhere for more inspiration or just a change.  But I’m always drawn back to my own little work space.

I love it here.
