merry Christmas, nadolig llawen, felice navidad, happy holidays, whatever...

Well, it's Christmas Eve, Eve.

My favourite day of the whole year.  I still get more excited by Christmas Eve than Christmas Day.  As a child it was the anticipation and excitement of what was to come.  As I got older it was the joy of getting home from work after the office party, having a glass of wine and relaxing - fully!

Then after my daughter was born it was seeing the excitement in her eyes.

Christmas Day is then just a blur.   A day of cooking, washing up, clearing away wrapping paper and building toys.

yappy Christmas everyone...
What?  Aw, c'mon, it was too easy!!!

That's why Christmas Eve Eve is the best day of the year for me.  It's the anticipation of Christmas Eve.

(I hope you're keeping up?!)

We're spending Christmas Day itself with Lisa's parents, so no domestic chores for us this year.  Just a nice, peaceful, relaxing day - hopefully.

But as always at this time, I stop to recognise how lucky I am and spare thoughts for those who are not so fortunate.  Christmas is a terrible time for some people.  They may be homeless, lonely, unable to provide much for their families or just working to keep our services going.

So, this is my Christmas card to anyone reading this.  Have a wonderful time but please, please pause and spare a thought for others.

I'll see you in 2020.
