yes I know it's Saturday

A post?  On a Saturday?  Has the world gone insane?

Not really.

I mean I have done it before, and it's just that I've been really productive lately and therefore I've got a couple of extra images I want to share with you now and over the next couple of weeks.  So keep an eye out for extra posts at any time.  Gosh, I bet you can't wait...

Following on from Monday's "flower over a lake", these images are from another lake, this time in Gnoll Country Park above Neath.

I spotted this twig, stuck in the shallows but beautifully delicate and reflected in the calm waters.  I took great care to position the woody subject to slot into the gap in the reflected leaves (see, these things aren't just thrown together!) meaning that it's naturally framed at the top of the composition.  So in processing I added a quite heavy vignette to the bottom of the frame to balance things out.

The second image was shot immediately after capturing the twig.  I loved the white swans and their reflections starkly contrasting with the dark water.  To create even more contrast, I spot metered on the brightest part of the nearest swan, giving a faster shutter speed.
