it all got a bit creepy

A few weeks back I found myself in a considerable amount of pain so, unable to rest or do anything really, to take my mind off it all I went out at around sunset with my camera.

I could have gone to the coast but didn't feel like the 20-25 minute drive so instead headed to the mountains above my home and the chapel there that I've photographed numerous times in the past.

On one such shoot there at around this time of year a few years ago I had a rather surreal experience.  The chapel is isolated; they could have named "the middle of nowhere" after it. But after a while I heard children laughing from the vicinity of the small graveyard there. A quick inspection revealed that I was the only person there.

I packed my things and left - rather sharpish!

Undeterred by this though, I was enjoying my recent sunset shoot when suddenly, and from nowhere, I just felt really uneasy.  It was as if I wasn't welcome there anymore and being watched even, and my pleasant hour or so of shooting turned very, well, creepy and uncomfortable.

Now, there was nobody around and no disembodied laughter this time, but there was something that made me very uneasy and think it was best to just pack up and get out of Dodge.  So, I did!

But not before I got this rather "meh" image.  I'm not 100% happy with it.  While the light is rather nice, there is none shining directly onto the chapel, and the leading line of the wall leads nowhere really.

Unlike me - I knew exactly which way to go!!

This would be a fabulous location for a Milky Way image too.  The skies are dark and the westward facing aspect is ideal for a shot of the stars over the graveyard.  Perhaps I'll take some brave pills one clear night and get up there!

  1. Nice shot! (PS I'm sure the ghostly children had no interest in you, they were just playing!😉)
