this is a bit strange

I have a limited social media presence.  I mean, there's this, my Instagram and my 500px account (and I don't think I'll persevere with the latter for much longer).  I stopped and completely deleted my Facebook account and don't do Twitter or TikTok or anything else of that ilk.

you gotta help me out here...

Anyway, just the other day I noticed a comment on one of my YouTube videos. It was a bit "oddball" so I clicked on its author to see what his or her channel was like.  What I found was a channel with just one video from around six months ago that had forty or so views.  So not even a viral video then.

That was it.  Nothing else.

But the channel had over ten thousand subscribers!  How can this be the case?

I sometimes find a similar thing with Instagram.  I am shown a photo I like, click on its creator to see what else they've done and again - nothing.  Just the one photo.  And yet the account will have thousands, sometimes tens of thousands, of followers.

I don't understand how this can happen.

Now, I know you can "buy" views and followers, and I can kind of understand someone (not me) doing that to generate interest in their account.  But then to post absolutely nothing else?  Why?

I don't really understand social media.  I just don't get it…

I buy and sell cameras.  Not for profit though I buy wisely and when I do sell I usually break even at least.  But a camera I sold last year and instantly regretted even though it made me a three figure profit was my Nikon D700.

Well, I regretted it so much that I've bought another one!  I'm still about even on the whole deal so it's not been a financial mistake.

Anyway, watch the video below where I introduce you to my newest acquisition.

  1. Social media (IMHO) is just a way to feed our egos.......(and before you go and get all insulted I'm right in there too!) 🤣🤣🤣🤣
