soft + flower = good

As a predominantly landscape photographer (though that seems to be shifting these days) I'm constantly seeking ultimate sharpness in my images.  I want every last little piece of detail to be visible.  And to that end I have perfected my craft and invested in some of the finest photographic equipment out there.

But this week's image follows on my Thursday post in eschewing all that, and shows that quite often a soft image can be equally beautiful.

This shot is of a polemonium in my garden and was taken at around six-o-clock in the morning on the Summer Solstice.

Its softness and pastel tones along with a lack of contrast in the image make it, for me, one of the nicest images I have ever taken.
