it's all change at meanwhilst towers

For the past few years I've been shooting with digital medium format camera equipment.  While the images have been among the best I've ever shot, and the image quality they produce is frankly unsurpassed, using this gear comes with one major cost.

Size.  And wei… size and weight!  (nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!!)

This has been becoming more and more apparent to me lately as my back continues to deteriorate and I get weaker and weaker.  It's got to the point where I pack my camera bag to go out and then don't bother because it's just too much for me to carry.

It's not so much of a problem if I've got company, as then my bag gets carried for me, but I am a bit of a loner and do enjoy being out with just Dexter, and it's those occasions that I really struggle now.

Couple that with the fact that I just wasn't enjoying using it so much, as I found I was actually putting pressure on myself to always come up with something special when shooting with it, and when during one of my lone trips out someone was taking a suspiciously large amount of interest in my camera kit to the extent I actually feared I was going to be robbed, my mind was finally made up.

So, I decided to sell it all and just use a lighter kit.  But what I hear you all cry will you be using from now on?

Well, you'll have to watch this fascinating video to find out!  I've tried to make it as suspenseful and entertaining as I possibly can so please give it a watch.  If you enjoy it then give it a "thumbs up", share, leave a comment and even subscribe.  It all helps.  Not financially but in an ego-massaging kind of way and God knows I need that right now!

  1. Shouldn't a hobby be fun? I think we put too much pressure on ourselves and turn it into something other than fun. I hope 'lightening' your kit will bring back the joy. 😊
