mount mushroom

I'm sure you've all heard of Mount Rushmore in the United States of America?  Well this is Mount Mushroom in Craig y Nos Country Park!

We were on our way home from a family outing to Brecon back in August, and stopped off at the park (it's just over half-way home) for Dexter to have a comfort break and for us to grab a coffee and quick look around at the place we love so much.

I spotted a pile of wood chippings and growing in and on this damp, humid mound were hundreds of mushrooms.

Now, I only had a small camera with me, completely unsuitable for shooting detailed close-up images (and the battery had died anyway!) so we decided that we'd return later that same day when the car park was shut and the park would be empty, and I'd have my macro set-up with me.
