spooked again

If you read Monday's post you'll know that we visited Craig y Nos Country Park back in August.

We deliberately went late in the evening as the park gates are shut to vehicles and therefore the place is empty.  And when it's empty it has a very special, some would say creepy ambience.

spooky?  this place??

The castle there and the grounds the park sits on are reputedly haunted by the ghost of World famous opera singer Adelina Patti.  She was the most famous singer of her time, think someone like Beyonce now, and lived in the the castle and developed its grounds.

Following her death, she was embalmed and remained in the cellar for some time before her burial in Paris, and the buildings were then used as a sanatorium for TB patients for several years.

Anyway, by the time we'd packed my camera and other stuff away, the sun had long since set and it was getting quite dark.  And as the park gates were shut we had to walk to a side gate and I decided to follow a narrow path through a small wooded area adjacent to the castle walls.

As we did, I whispered "Adelina, Adelina"…

This greatly upset my wife and daughter who are not as sceptical as me when it comes to the supernatural.

But just after I'd finished my whispered greeting, the air around me became freezing cold. It was quite a humid, windless evening and walking through the trees made it even more so. But there was this sudden chill.

When we got back to the car I mentioned this, but neither my wife or daughter felt that same chilling sensation!

So, did Adelina give me a gentle nudge and a scare.  Or was it something natural that caused it?

All I know is I shan't be calling her name out again!!
