la plume de ma tante

It's a little-known fact that I enjoy collecting and writing with fountain pens.  I always have.

I think their use was ingrained in me in primary school, where we all used the exact same council issue pen.  And we all went home covered from head to toe in the same council issue ink!

Something must have resonated with me though as I continued to buck the ballpoint or rollerball pen trend throughout secondary school, college and then into my working life.

I just find fountain pens so much easier to get on with.  You never have to worry about running out of ink, which made them an invaluable constant companion throughout the years of sitting exams whether in school or late in higher education or doing professional exams.

In fact, I have the proud record of qualifying for the professional body I belonged to without failing a single exam!  Of course, I put it all down to my fountain pens!

Naturally, the cost of this obsession is sitting through meetings with some very senior people while trying to conceal the fact my Parker fountain pen had deposited the contents of its barrel over my hands.  No matter though, I persevered.

And now that I write in my journal pretty well every day (and have done since 2014) I naturally use one of my collection of pens filled with one of my collection of inks to write my entries.  This means that if I close the journal too quickly then everything becomes an unreadable, smudgy mess.  But perhaps that's for the best!

Anyway, this interest has seen me gravitate towards a YouTube presenter (SBRE Brown) who reviews pens, and when he announced he had designed one, I just had to have one of what is a very limited edition of pens.  To give it its full name, it is the "Officina Italiana Moment Zero SBRE Brown Limited Edition Fountain Pen".

And I love it.  Except that it's run out of ink by the time you've written its name down...

Anyway, I love it so much that I tried to review it in Dr. Brown's somewhat unique style, and you can watch my attempt just by clicking below.
