I've sold out

Yay, a bonus Saturday post.  What fun!

Anyway, to business.

I've been posting videos on YouTube now for a good few years, and in that time have seen incredibly slow growth.  So slow in fact that at time of writing have around 1860 subscribers.  To put that in context, some YouTubers gain that number in the first few minutes of their latest video!

But I'm more than happy with this being the way it is.  It means my channel is easier to manage and that I can reply to all the comments my videos get.  I really wouldn't change it for anything.

And I have had offers from "experts" who assure me that with a little tweak here and there I can see my channel explode, instantly gaining thousands and thousands of subscribers and views, leading to untold online fame and wealth!

I've turned them all down.

I could also monetise my channel, allowing adverts to interrupt my videos.  But I haven't.  Neither have I taken advantage of paid channel membership or asked for any financial reward for putting out my content.  I haven't turned to Patreon, although Only Fans is tempting...*

Last month though a company got in touch with me, asking if I wanted to collaborate with them.  They'd get some advertising for their products, and I would get some free stuff.  And I agreed.  But only because it's a company whose products I already use, having bought them with my own money.

You can watch the video I've made to promote one of their camera bags by clicking below.  No doubt some will say that I've sold out and become just another YouTuber who accepts freebies.

And yes, I suppose I have!

* be very re-assured that I'm not actually tempted to go down this route!

Prior to its release, I filmed and uploaded a little teaser video.  And you can watch this one here… (warning: it is a little bawdy and also a thinly veiled attempt at cheap humour)
