sometimes the magic happens
Macro photography is a frustrating business. More often than not you wait around for a shot, grab it and then seeing it on your camera's LCD screen you think to yourself that it's a masterpiece.
But when you get it onto the computer, you're left disappointed yet again as the image fails to live up to expectations.
But sometimes, not very often but sometimes, the opposite happens. You get an image of a scene and think it'll be OK and nothing more, but when you get it on a large screen it transforms into a magical scene worthy of publishing.
This week's image is just one of those and is of a tiny sawfly - no more than three or four millimetres in length - enjoying some pollen from inside a clematis flower head growing in my garden. I honestly rank it up there with the best images I've ever taken.
