giving me the side eye
On a recent walk along our regular little nature trail near home, it was nice to see some of the bird boxes there getting occupied ready for the spring breeding season.
After watching birds flying in and out of one, I spotted some movement in a box around thirty metres or so from me. So I got the camera out, popped on the 100-400 telephone zoom and waited until a little head appeared in the opening to the box.
I couldn't be sure exactly what I'd got until I got home and zoomed in even further on my computer's monitor. But what I then found was possibly one of the best bird pictures I have ever taken - a nuthatch peering out and giving me a sneaky side-eye look!
Thank you "Nutty"!
