the simplest of things

It's been raining a lot lately.  So, not ideal for any form of outdoor photography really, well not if you want to stay dry at least.

But last Sunday morning, on St. David's Day to boot, there was a lovely sight in my back garden.  Not daffodils no, but raindrops clinging onto the bare branches of an acer.  Of course, such a scene demanded photographing, and I went old school.

I reached for my now twenty year old Nikon D700 and 105mm lens - aka the GOAT!  Sometimes it can be the simplest little scenes that yield the loveliest images.

I chose a large aperture and took just one shot, focused on the raindrop, allowing the background to blur away beautifully.
