disorders

We all have them.  Don’t we?  I mean, there’s eating ones, sleeping ones, erm…eating ones.

I have them all.  I can’t eat and I can’t sleep but I also have another one too: obsessive compulsive disorder.

I’ve always had it.  Everything has always had to be in order.  Everything just so.  From CDs, records and old cassette tapes to files on my computers over the years.  This last one has just seen me completely overhaul the filing system on my iMac.  I think I’ve written before that I didn’t like the way Apple thought was best for the sorting of my photographs and had made a start on reclassifying them.

Well that task is now complete, with folders for photographs for every year since I went digital in 2006, sub divided by the camera used and further by date.  And I’ve standardised the file names in each folder.  It took some time but was well worth it.  I can now happily look at the Finder app on my mac and not be repulsed by its haphazardness.

I’ve already happily sorted through all my documents and downloads and filed them away logically.  Next step is to put my new scanner to use and upload photographs from prints that I want to keep from my pre digital days.  Should keep me amused for a few weeks at least.

This is perfectly normal, isn’t it?
