flickr
There are loads of photo hosting sites on the
internet. I’ve tried a few but my
favourite without doubt is flickr. It
has a clean interface and it’s really simple to upload your photos and expose
them (pardon the pun) to a wide audience by sharing them in various groups that
flickr offer.
There are many groups dedicated to your camera
equipment and to geographical areas as well as countless other categories. I enjoy looking at all the groups I’m a
member of, either to see what other Nikon D800 (and other cameras, lenses, etc.
I use) are producing with their kit or what other photographers make of my
favourite locations.
But one feature I really enjoy is looking
around the world to see up to date photo’s from wherever you fancy going
to. You can “travel” anywhere you want
without leaving your sofa and this really grips my attention. Knowing that someone thousands of miles away
with the same camera and lens combination that I shoot with has been out that
day and used it in exactly the same way I would fascinates the techy geek in
me. And seeing images from around the
globe helps satisfy my wanderlust while I am confined largely to my home.
It also allows you to see images taken with kit
you are considering buying, saving you from some of the “expert” reviews that
litter the web.
If you’re inclined you can have a glance at my
(admittedly rather small) portfolio at https://www.flickr.com/photos/nickyjrees/
Armchair traveling is the best! :)
