rain

It rains a lot where I live.

In fact, I’m sure I read somewhere that Swansea is the wettest city in the UK.  Whether it is or isn’t, it certainly feels like we should hold that record.

It’s a quiet Sunday afternoon and I thought I’d make the 20 to 30-minute drive to one of my favourite places for an ice cream and the view of the lighthouse.  Mumbles is a lovely place when the sun is shining but I think, no I know, I prefer it on a day like today when the wind is howling and the rain is driving in sideways from the sea.

The tide is out which is a shame but I still love the view.  And being that the weather is dreadful means the place is empty and deserted.  Well, no one is getting out of their car that’s for sure!

So, sitting in the warmth of my car listening to old music on the radio while the wind is howling around me I feel a sense of belonging.  I’ve lived near here the whole of my life and visit here more frequently than anywhere else to take photographs.  The place is photogenic whatever the weather, but as I’ve alluded to before I don’t think I’ve ever taken a really good photo here.

That’s what keeps bringing me back.  Well that and the rain and the wind.

Oh, and the ice cream.
