secrets and lies
Our family has always had the belief that there are no secrets, and that we never lie to each other. A philosophy we re-enforced when our daughter was born.
But I have to confess that I have lied to me wife and kept a secret from her recently.
Just last week she celebrated her 50thbirthday. I know it’s hard to believe she’s 50 but there you go.
To mark the occasion, I decided to book a couple of days away in Stratford Upon Avon, and to meet our daughter while there. But as I wanted this to be a complete surprise, only revealing it at the last moment, I had to lie to her about our weekend plans and keep everything a secret.
Worse though was getting everyone else to keep their lips sealed. One slip and all would have been ruined.
So, although I had to break our family code, I think it was for a good enough reason. And Lisa really enjoyed the three days away. Not so sure about my wallet though.

alas poor Lisa, wed to that fool |
Still, as they say in those parts, "love is blind....."
Aw, I'm sure a little white lie for a good reason is allowed! Glad you had a good time! :)
